Visiting Fellow

Application for Visiting Fellow

A Visiting Fellow (VF) is a scholar in possession of a doctorate or equivalent qualification who applies to come to Princeton for no less than one month and no longer than two consecutive semesters to work with a specified Princeton faculty member on a research project that grows out of a specific collaboration or mutual research interest. Many scholars apply to be a Visiting Fellow during a sabbatical year.

Appointment as Visiting Fellow is appropriate for faculty members visiting from other academic institutions and for established independent scholars and researchers. They are considered professional colleagues of our faculty. Facilities and resources may be provided to them by the sponsoring department.

The Mossavar-Rahmani Center provides Visiting Fellows with:

  1. an office with the Center;
  2. housing in Princeton for the duration of stay;
  3. travel expenses to/from Princeton;
  4. and a research account (if the appointment is at least one full semester).

Fellows are expected to have a public presentation of their research project, and/or organize a workshop or small symposium on a theme related to their proposed project.

Appointments are normally for one semester, but they could be extended to one academic year.

Visiting fellows ordinarily have no specific responsibilities in either teaching or research and do not receive stipends or salaries from the University.

    If you are interested in applying to become a Visiting Fellow with  the Mossavar-Rahmani Center please contact the Center Manager, Femke de Ruyter (femked@princeton.edu) and submit the following information/documents:

    Required Documents

    4. Proof of financial support at the level required by Princeton

    Timeline

    All materials must be submitted to the Center Manager. Proposals will be evaluated by the department and approved Visiting Fellows will be notified of the outcome. Please bear in mind that there are a very limited number of places annually, and that submission of an application is no guarantee of success. It is important to submit the application and financial documentation to the department in a timely manner relevant to your proposed start date to allow sufficient time for processing of the formal application and visa paperwork.
